Many Troops Enter…!

…and all of them leave exhausted, exhilarated, and happy.

With light starting to break through the COVID clouds, Narragansett Council is able to host larger scale activities for Troops from RI and MA. The seminal ‘ring in the Autumn’ event has always been the Highland Games! We were fortunate that 2021 saw its return.

The 2021 Highland Games, held at the Cachalot Scout Reservation in Carver, MA, featured a staggeringly diverse selection of events designed to test strength, stamina, wit, and teamwork, which included (but was certainly not limited to!):

  • Axe throwing

  • Archery

  • Stone throwing

  • Caber tossing

  • Sheep tossing

  • Sheep lifting

  • Beam carrying

  • Tug of War

  • Golf

  • Catapult design

  • …..and more!

Troop 12 put their game faces on, along with their stylish kilts, and definitively and empirically brought it.

Split into two different groups (clans), each Troop 12 clan did Cumberland proud with their respective efforts and accomplishments*.

*Excepting, maybe, when they lost to the Troop 12 adults in an exhibition tug of war match that saw the adults outnumbered 2-to-1. Not that I’m rubbing it in or anything.
