A Day of Community Service & Fund Raising….
….is just another exciting day in the ongoing adventures of Troop 12!
Troop 12 spent a full morning contributing to the annual ‘Scouting for Food’ drive that collects donated food items for those in need. It’s on me that I don’t remember the exact number of boxes they assembled from the many donations. But thanks to their efforts and the Cumberland community who was the driving force behind donation volume, we posted a record year in terms of the number of boxes of food that were put together. It’s been an incredibly difficult couple of years for everyone. But the fact that, that didn’t stop Cumberland or the Scouts from stepping up to help those in need, speaks to how truly extraordinary are the town and the Troop that we get to be a part of.
But wait! There’s more!
The Scouts went straight from their busy morning, to a busy afternoon and evening! Hosting their annual pasta dinner fundraiser at the historic St. Joseph Church’s hall, the Scouts handled setup, food service, cleanup, and breakdown without losing a step.
Thanks to the amazing efforts of Master Chef (and AOL Den Leader and Troop mom) Melanie Desjarlais, it helped that the food was INCREDIBLE! Thankfully we had plenty of leftovers that had no problem finding homes afterwards.
